Your health is precious and so is your time. That’s why we’ve recruited extra healthcare professionals at Bushloe GP surgery. Coordination of care means you’ll be seen quicker by the right person to meet your needs in the best way with the additional support of these healthcare professionals at the surgery. This means your GP can be available when you need them. Together our new team gives you access to more specialist skills, knowledge and experience than ever before.

Roles in the Surgery
When you make an appointment, our reception team will triage you for an appointment with the most appropriate person.

 

GP

GP’s are expert generalists who oversee the planning and delivery of all care provided at the surgery.

They treat complex and chronic health issues.

 

Nurse Practitioner

You will be seen by one of the team if you have a minor illness or minor injury.

Nurse Practitioners can also prescribe medications including antibiotics and painkillers.

Our nurse practitioners are also involved in diabetes management, long acting

contraceptives such as coil fitting and steroid injections/minor surgery.

 

Nurse

Our nurses are responsible for giving immunisations and injections, wound care,

carrying out smear tests and delivering asthma/COPD clinics.

 

Health Care Assistant

HCA’s are experts at taking blood samples. They also carry out annual health checks, NHS health checks

and diabetic annual health checks. They perform ECG’s and can administer certain medications.

 

Physician Associate

A Physician Associate can assess and treat minor illnesses and injuries under the

supervision of a GP. Our PA also holds clinics to help manage cholesterol, raised BP

& Chronic Kidney Disease. She also carries out respiratory testing and fits 24 hour blood pressure monitors.

 

Clinical Pharmacists

  Our pharmacists carry out medication reviews once you have had an annual health check

and also address any changes to medication made by specialists in hospital or outpatient clinics.
